a "musical" + ruffles

Yes, I put musical in parenthesis for a reason...

So one of my very best friends came into town and bought us tickets to see Straight Outta Oz. If you don't know it's a musical (emphasis on the word musical) written by Todrick Hall that pretty much tells the story of his journey to fame. It was such a great show; the singing and dancing (especially the singing) was phenomenal. Some of those voices took me to church ok!

I wanted to be both cute and comfortable so I put this little number together. This off the shoulder top is so easy to dress up, or down. And I normally wear these pants to work but decided to give them a spin outside of the office (expect to see them again). Since it was a musical I knew I would be sitting down for the majority of the evening so my 'dinner only' shoes would be just fine for the occasion.

I could not have been more wrong! To begin, we ended up parking in an area with rocks and grass. With every step, my heels sank into the dirt while I walked. But I was able to look past that because I knew I would be to my seat soon. Once we sat down and the show got started, everyone stood up in excitement...

and they never sat back down!

What I thought would be a musical was more like a concert. The people in the front stood up for every act which caused a domino effect (in reverse) and everyone else had to stand up in order to see the show. My 'dinner only' heels were such a fail that night.

With the exception of painful feet on my walk back to the car, I was so in love with this outfit. I've already worn it a second time to brunch (without the heels of course). It's one of those outfits that make you look put together with very little effort and I love to look good with little fuss!
