5 THINGS YOU NEED TO DO WHEN REMOVING MAKEUP

More content creating means doing my makeup more often…

That means I’m also removing makeup more often so I feel like I’ve got it down to a science. In today’s post I’ll be sharing the steps I take to make sure my skin is clean and makeup free!

hint: you can grab some of these products during the Sephora Spring Sale… it ends 4/24!

STEP 1// REMOVE

There are a number of ways you can remove your makeup (I’ve talked about that here) and I’ve come to love using oil-based cleansers. I find them very gentle on the skin yet extremely effective at breaking down all the products, even stubborn water-proof mascara.

Tip: Don’t rush. Take your time and really work the product into the skin. Use your ring fingers when working around the eyes to remove and apply light pressure.

STEP 2// CLEANSE

Now that the makeup is gone, it’s time to actually clean the skin. This steps ensures any remaining product is washed away. Sometimes I’ll exfoliate after cleansing with this.

Tip: Don’t forget your ears and hairline.

STEP 3// PURIFY

Just to be extra sure I removed all of the product, I follow up with micellar water all over the face. Makeup is so stubborn and I feel like there’s always just a little bit hiding somewhere. If you didn’t catch it before, be sure that you will in this step.

Tip: Use these cotton pads with the micellar water. Just trust me… they’re the best and, most importantly, gentle. You won’t want to use anything else.

STEP 4// TONE

With so much removal happening to the skin, it’s necessary to add something back to it. Toner is my first step at adding moisture and hydration. I like to gently rub it on my face then press it into the skin. I feel like it preps the skin for the remaining products I’ll be applying.

STEP 5// MOISTURIZE

I recently started using some new products to further moisturize the skin so I now apply a serum, moisturizer and eye cream. This step may look different for everyone, depending on your skin’s needs. I prefer rich products that leave me with a glow and isn’t absorbed by my skin too quickly.

Tip: Apply a lip mask as your finishing touch!

And now you have an easy routine to add to your skincare regimen :)
