what to use when makeup wipes aren't enough

A recent launch got me to thinking…

A popular influencer that I’ve followed for years (Patrick Starrr) recently launched his own beauty brand! His first set of items to drop are makeup removing products: makeup wipes and makeup dissolving mist. I was very intrigued by the mist and it got me to thinking about how I currently remove my makeup and… I don’t like really like makeup wipes (insert dramatic music). I’m just not a fan! I’ve tried multiple brands and they all fall short for me. They usually don’t do a great job of removing my makeup without me needing to use two wipes or I feel like they’re not juicy enough. So I had to find some alternative ways to take my makeup off and I think you might want to convert once you find out what they are. I would like to note that I am a fan of double cleansing when it comes to removing makeup. What I use to initially remove the makeup will always be followed by a second cleansing product as part of my night time routine.

OLAY Cleansing Cloths

OK…. I know I said I don’t like using makeup removing wipes and yes, the product I’m about to discuss is a wipe BUT it’s different. Allow me to explain. These wipes are small cloths that you wet to activate and once you do, they lather up and get soapy. I then use it to remove my makeup in circular motions all over the face. Once I’m done, I am able to rinse that same cloth and use it to wipe away to soap from my face. You could also rinse your face directly with water. The cloth is very soft and isn’t rough like some makeup removing wipes can be. It’s pretty good at removing mascara but doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and stripped of moisture. They also travel well so it’s easy to take with you on vacation. Because they are water-activated cloths, you never have to worry about them drying out on you!

Face Oil

I’ve seen people using face oils to remove makeup for quite some time and I finally decided to give it a try for myself. The verdict? I love it. It literally “melts” away all of your makeup. It dissolves so easy with a face oil, especially eye makeup and stubborn mascara. Because you use your hands to work in the product, it is very gentle on the skin. It’s also more environmentally friendly for that same reason; you’re not constantly using a product that you’ll have to dispose of.

Face Halo

This is quite the innovative product and, if you can’t already tell, I had to see what it was all about. It seemed like it couldn’t be true. Could this thing really take off all of your makeup with no product whatsoever? The answer is yes, yes it can. All you need is some water and you can kiss your makeup goodbye. The Face Halo is made with HaloTech fiber strands that reach deep into your pores to un-trap makeup. It isn’t rough on the skin at all and there is no need to be aggressive when using. Applying slight pressure as you glide it over your face does the trick. For eyes, they recommend holding it in place for a few seconds and then gently wiping the makeup away. I was pretty shook at the results. Another thing I love about it? It’s reusable. You can toss it in the washer with your laundry or wash it by hand. It can be washed and reused about 200 times. Can we say good for the environment?

Micellar Water

I don’t use this to take off a full face of makeup but I still wanted to mention it because it is sometimes apart of the removal process. If I had a very light makeup day, I can use this on its own with no problem. I typically use it in-between removing the makeup (with the products mentioned above) and washing my face with a cleanser. Makeup can be so stubborn sometimes so its one of those “let me make sure I got it all” steps. I simply pour some on facial cotton and apply it to my face.

How do you like removing your makeup at the end of the day?
